THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL CONCEPT
The first "boutique hotels" appeared in New York and San Francisco in the 1980s. The concept emerged simultaneously from the minds of creators Steve Rubell and Ian Scrager in New York and Bill Kimpton in San Francisco. It experienced real growth in the late 1990s.
For Americans, the notion of " boutique" goes against their large "MallS" (huge shopping centres and hotel complexes). For them, the boutique is a small, pleasant place offering a personalised service, where the customers are known and recognised during their visits.
Hence the name "boutique hotel" to define a concept combining a hotel and a guest room.
This type of hotel promotes a unique style and personality based on a concept or theme that sets it apart from big hotel chains. In contrast to the latter, the Boutique Hôtel offers an intimate and cosy atmosphere that allows for an attentive and personalised service to each of its customers.
The concept of boutique hotels is defined by several criteria: location (dynamic and trendy districts), architecture and design (theme-oriented), service ( personalised), size (less than 50 rooms), location (building with a history, a distinctive feature), ownership (independent hotels).
The Regina hotel was inspired by this unique and original concept for its theme that revolves around Avignon, its Palais des Papes, its famous bridge and its theatre festival.
In the spirit of the times, halfway between the guest room and the classic hotel.
We know that you are looking for a warm and welcoming place for your visit to Avignon to be a successful one.
At Regina Hotel, we offer you a fantastic orchestral seat on the city's show. The rue de la République is undoubtedly the one where you can hear the heart of Avignon beating more than in any other street.
Our decorator-designer Katy Michel, Jorge Arnau our staff painter and our upholsterer Christophe Marin have worked together on the project to create an authentic, cosy and elegant hotel paying tribute to the listed building dating from 1913 as well as to the city of Avignon.
Our approach is based on authenticity, simplicity and quality of service so that each customer simultaneously feels "at home" and....away.

The construction of the REGINA HOTEL was completed in 1913. It was built following the creation of the rue de la République and the Jean Jaurès path. Thus, its unique location at the corner of two wide streets.
The famous Avignon bridge (Saint-Bénézet bridge) was built in the 13th century. It originally had 24 arches and connected Avignon to the Philippe Le Bel tower in Villeneuve-les-Avignon.
